Youth Parliament
Youth Parliament is an important initiative conducted annually in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) at three levels: Regional, Zonal, and National. The aim of this program is to introduce students to the working of the parliamentary system in India. It provides a platform for young students to engage in parliamentary-style debates, discussions, and the decision-making process, helping them understand the functioning of the democratic system.
Key Objectives of the Youth Parliament:
- Familiarization with Parliamentary Procedures: Students learn how a parliamentary session operates, including the roles of MPs, the process of discussions, debates, and the significance of decision-making.
- Development of Leadership and Communication Skills: It encourages students to express their views on national issues, thus honing their public speaking, debating, and leadership abilities.
- Promoting Democratic Values: The initiative fosters respect for democracy, civic responsibility, and the importance of informed participation in national governance.
Levels of the Youth Parliament:
- Regional Level: The first stage where schools from a particular region compete.
- Zonal Level: The second stage where regional winners advance and represent their zones.
- National Level: The final stage where the best teams from each zone compete at the national level.
